In the same post in which you placed your creation, briefly describe your experience completing Thing 8. Which of these tools intrigues you and why? Was it easy, frustrating, time-consuming, fun? Share some of your ideas for using the images you can create.

I placed my creation from spell with Flickr on my page to replace my name. It was easy and I had a lot of fun playing with the various things that are out there to use to create cool things to put on your blog. It was time-consuming only because I got caught up playing with the various things you could do with the tools. It would be fun to have my students see what they could create as a culminating project title or to use

Think of ways you may be able to use Flickr in the classroom or in your work and share your ideas. What issues might you face?

Flickr would be an excellent tool to start discussions, by showing a photo and asking them what is going on or give students a visual to then have them "write" the story that they think is playing out in the photo. We did an activity where we cut a photo into fours only showing a quarter at a time and having them respond to each piece and then seeing if there response changes after seeing the big pciture. I think privacy issues could arise with using Flickr to share the kids work as a means of sharing success in the classroom.

I posted this photo because of my love of the Detroit Tigers. I think it is important to share your personal interests with your students in order to make connections and help them see you as a "real" person.

RSS can be a difficult concept for some to grasp right away - what questions do you have? It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of blogs out there - how do you handle information overload and how do you think RSS might help with that? Find anything in your searching that you'd recommend to others?

I think like everything there is a lot of information and it is difficult to determine what would be beneficial and what is more obscure and needless. It is helpful that you can search for things that are of interest but the sheer magnitide of how many there are is extremely overwhelming. I am thinking this is something that I will need to revisit at a later date to find information that is useful in my day to day routines. After working through 5 things in two hours, I was not able to determine or find some that are share worthy, but hope to revisit this to find more applicable ones for me.

How might you use RSS in your personal or professional life? Which method of subscribing do you prefer? What didn't work or doesn't make sense?
I think the RSS would allow me to gain information that will enrich my personal life by subscribing to things that interest me. As an educator, I would be provided the opportunity to interact with others that are current in my field I would have instant access to a wealth of information.

The idea of having access to things in one place will make things easier and more accessible.

How might a blog support the work you do? How might you use a blog with students? How might they respond to a blog assignment? What concerns do you have about educational blogging?

I would use a blog to post a running log of work and upcoming dates for the co-taught classes that I work in. I would use a blog to provide a forum for students to communicate with me in a safe format and respond to questions about a given topic. I think it would need to be something that was taught and discussed as far as proper "web etiquette" for responding to blogs.

Some concerns that I have are that students would need to feel comfortable with posting and responding to my blog and that their ideas will be respected.

Why are you participating in 23 Things? What do you hope to learn? What new insights did you have during Thing 1? How does writing on the Internet, knowing anyone could read it, change how you write or feel about writing?

I have signed up for 23 things in the past but was unable to keep on top of the things with all that I have going on. I am participating now due to the request and the time being allotted on a PD day. I hope to learn more about what is available in terms of technology to enrich my student's learning. During Thing 1 it is evident that there is a great need for students to be engaged in our curriculum with the assistance of technology. Our students are techies and we need to get them involved in the curriculum with high interest tasks. I think it is important to know that everything put onto the Internet is fair game and anyone and everyone can see your words. I think that in this digital world the sense of privacy becomes more important but less existent.
